Since I’ve had my legion, I’ve been very curious if it could handle class 4 wormholes solo. Today a corpmate probed out a class 4 hole close to our own wormhole. So this was the perfect oppurtunity to try it out.
Being a little bit scared about the damage output the sleepers would do in a class 4 hole, I deciced to put some extra tank on my ship. This is the setup I used:
[Legion, Class 4 Sleepers]
Centum A-Type Medium Armor Repairer
Damage Control II
Dark Blood Armor EM Hardener
Dark Blood Armor Thermic Hardener
Dark Blood Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
Dark Blood Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane
800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Republic Fleet 10MN Afterburner
Gallente Navy Stasis Webifier
True Sansha Cap Recharger
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M
Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, Sisters Core Scanner Probe I
Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Nanobot Accelerator I
Legion Defensive – Nanobot Injector
Legion Electronics – Emergent Locus Analyzer
Legion Engineering – Capacitor Regeneration Matrix
Legion Offensive – Liquid Crystal Magnifiers
Legion Propulsion – Fuel Catalyst
On top of that I had some armor hardwirings, the ZET100, ZET200, ZET400, ZET500 and a 5% medium energy turret damage hardwiring. Just to be sure I also brought a Standard Exile Booster to give me another 20% extra tank, should I need it.
I tried a Frontier Barracks anomoly. The first wave spawned a preserver and upholder battleship. No problem, I knew my tank could handle that easily. Since the preservers are the remote reppers for the sleepers I killed the preserver battleship first.
Crap…. that was the trigger for the second wave. That wave spawned and additional 3 upholder battleships and 2 preserver cruiser.
So now I had to deal with 4 upholder battleships. They seemed to eat through my tank slowly. In with the booster. Unfortunately the booster gave me a cap penalty, which made the ship not cap stable any more. The 4 bs still were a little bit too much for my tank, so I warped away.
The wormhole had plenty of anomolies, so I tried another one. Now nowing what the trigger was, I killed the upholder bs first, then the preserver. No I only had to deal with 3 bs and 2 cruisers in the second wave. This proved to be easily tankable. Because of the full tank fit I had it took a little while to take them all down.
Then the third wave spawned. 2 bs, 4 cruisers, 3 frigs. All preservers. So not too much damage, but a whole lot of remote repping going on. The frigates, which webbed and scrambled me, were the first in range. They insta-popped to my lasers, so no trouble there. Then I started working on the cruisers. The first one exploded pretty fast. But when I got to the second one, all the other sleepers had their remote reps up & running. So I couldn’t kill it. I tried overloading my guns, which gave it some structure damage, but didn’t kill it yet, before I had to stop overloading. After 15 minutes or so I still couldn’t get it down, so I warped off.
Unfortunately the wormhole I entered it was reaching the end of it’s natural lifetime, so I didn’t have time to go back and refit. But all in all this was a nice test. Gave me some insight in the class 4 holes. Next time I’ll try to switch out the damage control for a heat sink. That should give just enough damage to kill off a preserver cruisers. And once one is down, the next one will be easier.
I didn’t record any fraps this time. But I did make some screenshots. I will fraps my second attempt.
